One of the toughest task for me to do during my internship is writing this blog. I found it too challenging, to sum up, months’ worth of experiences in just a few paragraphs. As, a graduate student one of the key tasks is to do an internship to sharpen your skills and gain work experience to boost your employability, especially as a business student. An internship is not only about learning how to make coffee and photocopying documents. But, internships are incredibly valuable for networking, gaining experience, and ultimately helping you to land that dream job in your chosen sector.
I undertook an eight-week internship at Business Brainz, an ABM research company. Working as an intern under Prajwal Gadtaula has been a unique experience that has allowed me to synthesize the abundance of information I’ve received in the classroom and see how it is applied in the real world. The best thing about my internship was the nature of the work and the great, versatile, and diverse employees that I got to know. As an intern, there was a more relaxed nature to the work and work environment. I was able to use this to my advantage; I could communicate with colleagues effectively without having to worry about normal business jargon.
The first day when I came to BBz, I thought I will only be given few tasks to help out others but that was not the case, they gave me a list of task that I needed to do in the eight- weeks of my internship period. The task that I was offered was extremely interesting and rewarding. The eight weeks that I worked as an intern in BBz, I was never treated as an intern instead was treated as a regular employee of the company. Over those eight weeks, I developed very good friendships with my coworkers, got positive feedback from my superiors.
The highlight of my time there was working in a research report. My first research report was about an IT agency which was very challenging for me as I never got the IT terms and understood how they work. I had to read different reports and press releases to finally get a hang about how they work. But, with the help of Prajwal, I was able to figure out lots of things and got the hang of how to do the research report more efficiently. Despite the work being challenging and exhausting at the end of the day, it was all worth it.
Lastly, my eight weeks at BBz allowed me to grow personally, but it also helped me to gain new skills in different sectors of industry which will help me a lot in my future. My internship has given me a better understanding of my skill set and where my career may take me, but most importantly, I’ve come to learn that some work might be challenging but a little patience will help you solve it easily. I’d like to thank everyone here at BBz for helping me get this great learning experience and I’ll be forever indebted to those who gave me a hand here.
